Rethink the Dairy

Writer's picture: Coulee Flats DairyCoulee Flats Dairy

Meet Coulee Flats Dairy farmer Case Vander Meulen and learn more about how calves are raised and how the dairy is designed to be efficient with every drop of water we use.

Before the dairy was built, the farm only grew crops. Now, the same farm also provides dairy products and beef, using the same amount of land. Water is first used to cool the milk tanks, provide the cows cool, clean water in troughs and misters, then it's used to clean the milking parlor and feed alleys. Finally, it is stored and then pumped onto the fields to water and fertilize the feed crops that nourish the cows all year long.
